R. York Wilson (1907-1984) began a successful career as an artist at Brigden’s and Sampson-Matthews, where he worked with Frank Carmichael and A.J. Casson. In the 1930s he became a full-time fine artist. Wilson travelled regularly to Mexico, Asia, the Middle East, and Paris. He had over 50 solo shows.
